Achillea Colorado, commonly known as Yarrow, is a versatile and hardy perennial that brings a splash of colour to any garden. Renowned for its vibrant blooms and feathery, fern-like foliage, this plant is a favourite among gardeners in the UK. Achillea Colorado thrives in various garden settings, from borders to wildflower meadows, and is perfect for those looking to add a touch of natural beauty with minimal effort.
One of the standout features of Achillea Colorado is its stunning array of colours. The plant produces clusters of small, daisy-like flowers in shades of pink, red, yellow, and white, creating a beautiful mosaic that attracts pollinators like bees and butterflies. This yarrow variety has a pleasant, subtle fragrance and a long blooming period from early summer to autumn. Its sturdy stems and compact growth habit make it an excellent choice for cut flower arrangements and dried floral crafts, adding a touch of charm to any home.
Planting and caring for Achillea Colorado is straightforward, making it an ideal choice for both novice and experienced gardeners. Plant it in well-drained soil in a sunny spot, as this yarrow prefers full sun to light shade. Achillea Colorado is drought-tolerant once established, requiring only moderate watering. To encourage more prolific blooming, deadhead spent flowers regularly. In late autumn, cut back the stems to ground level to prepare the plant for winter. With its resilience and low-maintenance nature, Achillea Colorado is a delightful addition to any garden, offering year-round interest and colour.
