This Abelia is a wonderfully colourful semi-evergreen shrub that offers a kaleidoscope of colours for most of the year. The variegated foliage is at its brightest in spring when the leaves emerge with vivid shades of yellow and green. As the foliage matures throughout summer the colour deepens and darkens. Summer foliage is accompanied by fragrant, pale pink-white, tubular flowers that open from rosy pink buds and last until October. The final show of colour comes in autumn when the leaves have an orange-red sheen. In milder areas the leaves will hold, but for most this is a semi-evergreen shrub.

A pretty Abelia with masses of lovely, trumpet-shaped, lilac-pink flowers on arching branches from June to October and glossy, bronze-green leaves maturing to dark green. This elegant, semi-evergreen shrub is ideal for a sunny, well-drained, mixed or shrub border.

This is a handsome abelia, with long lance-shaped leaves with creamy edges and stalks that are red when young. It is very picturesque and pretty close-up, however, viewed from a distance, as in a border, the colour breaks up into a textured pattern. In autumn, there are little pale pink, tubular flowers but these tend to get lost in all the foliage detail.

The ‘Magic Daydream’ is a wonderful little shrub with so much to offer due to its ever-changing interest throughout the growing season. The leaves alone are a kaleidoscope of colours: their main colour is dark green and they have variegated cream margins, plus new leaves have a rosy blush, making this a wonderfully colourful plant based on the foliage alone. To add to this, from June to October an abundance of sweetly scented flowers appear and these start out white and mature to pink. The star-shaped flowers sit nestled amongst the glossy foliage and give off a delightful fragrance, making this a great choice for sensory planting. If you want to attract more bees and butterflies to your garden then this Abelia will do the trick.  Eventually the 'Magic Daydream' will grow to have a compact, bushy habit, making it the perfect choice for planting in a pot on a sunny patio.
