The ‘Glen Spire’ is somewhat of a rarity in many gardens, and it is a bit of a well-kept secret that is certainly worthy of wider planting. Unlike most varieties of sorbus, this variety is not widely available, making it all the more special for planting in your garden. The upright branches of this tree hold tiny deep green fern-like leaves which are accompanied by sprays of small creamy flowers in spring. This tree is at its best in autumn when the leaves turn to orange and red whilst vivid pink fruits emerge in clusters all over the tree. The fruits can be picked and made into a jelly, or left on the tree to be snapped up by the birds. This tree maintains a narrow habit, which makes it perfect for the smaller garden.
