Liquidambar 'Lane Roberts' is the most reliable selection for producing a dazzling display of almost black crimson red autumn colours. Maple like leaves with toothed lobes. Comparatively smooth greyish brown bark compared to other liquidambar varieties. The flowers are insignificant light green and are sometimes followed by clusters of burr-like fruit.
