A particularly sturdy escallonia, forming a big mound of glistening green leaves. It flowers in June, with clusters of lovely pinkish rose flowers which are small but quite elegantly-shaped, like tiny broad lipped goblets. The leaves are slightly sticky to the touch, with a sweet resinous scent. Escallonias make good hedges for coastal regions and can stand close clipping, but they are also pleasing when grown naturally.
